Organizing Your Albums
"How do you
organize your albums?" is probably the question I get asked the most. It is a
great question... one I also ask my friends! I am always curious to see how
scrappers put together their albums... chronologically, by child, by holidays,
etc. When I first began scrapbooking ten years ago, the answer was always
chronologically. But, as the years have passed and the industry has progressed,
there are so many products on the market, it is really YOUR choice how to
organize your albums.
Options include chronological, vacation, holiday, by child, portrait albums, gift albums, special picture/memory albums, birthday books. I have several albums going. Besides my ongoing family/chronological album, I have a Christmas album (which includes pictures of each Christmas, our annual Holiday card, traditions, gift lists and any special moments), a birthday album (which includes birthdays from my husband, my son and me. It is so fun to flip through and watch us age!) and a Pictures I Love Album. This album is dearest to my heart because I only add 2 or 3 pictures a year. It is an 8 x 8 book done without many embellishments. In this album, I keep what I like to call my "moment" pictures... pictures that when I look at them evoke such wonderful feelings in me... special moments in my life that I wouldn't trade for anything... moments that I feel would get lost in a big, thick family album.
With the limitless types of albums to choose from, 12 x 12, 8-1/2 x 11, 8 x 8, etc., companies have made it easy for us to progress from thinking strictly chronological. We can choose from any size and any theme. Call or stop by if you have questions or need help picking an album theme that works for you!!
Tip
Time
Always store your albums in an upright position; stacking them causes abrasion
problems. Dont put them in hot attics or damp basements. The best place to keep your
albums is in
the rooms where you live a temperature range of 65-70 degrees.
